ugi began his studies with artist janet young, later, he moved to seal beach, california and studies three and a half years with the well-known impressionist artist, irene borg.

alvaro continued working hard perfecting his technique and has developed his own style with strong strokes and bright colors. you can find him painting daily at UGI'S Fine Art Gallery which he and his wife own and operate. the name "UGI" caught on so fast, that everyone now calls him Ugi, which is how he sings his art. Ugi has now been working as a professional artist for over fifteen years. his main artistic themes are vibrant flowers, blown out of proportion and exquisitely interpreted.
